MOAB

Just a few more....

MOAB

We got to go to Moab over spring break this year. We went with three other families in our ward, Steve's brother and his family, Steve's parents and the Bensons, and our friends two sisters and their families. We had so much fun being there. My kids have never been so it was a blast to take them to Canyonlands and Arches. We camped and the first night was pretty miserable. Our air mattress appearantly had a hole in it! And it was FREEZING all night. Needless to say we didn't sleep that night. Fortunately we were able to buy another air mattress and the next two nights were much warmer and so much better.
It was quit an adventure though. Two of our friends were staying in cabins at the same campground that we were at. When the Johnsons got there they were unloading their bags (they had only been there ten minutes) and their three year old daughter fell off the top bunk and broke her arm. They had to go to Grand Junction the next day and have surgery, putting screws in her elbow!! The next day one of our other friends little one year old boy grabbed the exhaust pipe of the motorcycle his dad had just ridden and severly burned both of his hands. they had to rush him to the ER.
It all has worked out for both of our friends, and Jake's hands are looking great, he wont need skin grafts or anything. Jen says it is definately because of priesthood blessings!! We were a little on edge the rest of the weekend waiting for some other disaster to strike! Thank goodness nothing terrible happened. Although our other friends little boy got a fever the day we left and it ended up he had an ear infection and pink eye. Yeah, it was quit the trip.
We did have a great time though and we can't wait to go again, hopefully injury free!!
I have to explain this picture. When we got to mesa arch in canyonlands Lizzie had to poop. I had to take her in the cactus and pick it up like a doggie bag! So, we are walking to the arch and Claire decides she has to poop! Then, Graham (the other four year old) says he has to poop. Well, Lee was carrying his take-out box from Hogie Yogi and that became the poop box. He had to carry this around the rest of the hike. It was great fun!!

Easter

We had Easter with my cousins who live here in Colorado Springs and my grandma from Utah came to visit also. It was a lot of fun. We had the egg hunt on Saturday and made Sunday more focused on Jesus' resurrection and the atonement. It worked out really well. At Mark and Christy's we read the story of Jesus' last day and had the 'resurrection eggs' to go with the story. I am so glad to have such wonderful family here to add so much to our lives. I am grateful that I have such healthy grandparents and that my children adore them as much as I do.

Sam's been tagged

4. My favorite holiday is Easter because we learn about Jesus' resurrection.

5. I love to travel. Traveling with my family makes me happy.

6. Spaghetti, mom's enchiladas, sushi and Chinese food are some of my favorite foods.

Freedom: Sam's Choir Concert

Sam's school has a choir for the third, fourth and fifth grade classes. It was a really fun thing for Sam to do this year. They practiced before school every Wednesday and the program was so fun. It was entitled "Freedom" and the songs focused on our country. Every child had either sung a solo, had a speaking part or marched the flags. I was very impressed with the talent that was shown. One of the really fun things at this performance was the band that accompanied the choir. It consisted of staff and parents from the school. Their principal played the piano and there were a couple of guitars, a violin, clarinets and a percussion section. It was so fun to see some of our friends playing in that band.

We've been tagged

So, Colby tagged us quit some time ago and we have been slackers. this is just me and Lizzie. Sam and Trey are still 'thinking'
Paula:
1. I love shoes. Running, hiking, dress, casual it really doesn't matter.

2. Food is almost an obsession. I love to eat. Trying new foods is one of my favorite things and it makes me happy. I love to cook. (told you I was obsessed) I don't even mind doing the dishes afterwards. Learning new ways to cook and finding new recipes is a hobby for me. Sometimes I bake/cook just for the fun of it and then make my friends eat it all so I wont gain 50 lbs. in a month.

3. I love watching sports. Baseball is probably my favorite. Football is great and I can even enjoy watching golf and soccer. I would love to go to Wimbeldon, The Masters, The Super Bowl and the World Series. (NASCAR is NOT a sport and I don't like it at all!!)

4. Working out is an addiction for me. I have discovered that if I go more than three days without running, yoga or some form of exercise I become a monster. My Dad says he's the same way so maybe it's genetic?!

5. I really love music. My ipod is my friend!! Give me some good 80's rock music some fabulous piano music, or just some good ol' country and I am a happy camper!!

6. Watching my kids grow up brings more emotions than I can explain. I am so proud of them and the accomplishments they are making, but Lizzie is 4 1/2 and that means she's not a baby anymore and that makes me sad. I am living vicariously through friends and family who have babies and it's really fun!

7. I have the most patient husband in the world. Hello, trying to live with me is like living with a volcano. Most of the time it's peaceful, but when it blows, you better watch out!!

8. I hate dirty floors. When I was little I hated walking on the floor of my grandma's boat at lake powell because there was always sand, food, water on the floor and it literally made me sick. I still am that way, my floors have to be vacuumed and moped or I go nuts. (Hotels kind of gross me out only because of the floors!)

Lizzie:
1. I love being around my friends. I have to have someone to play with at all times or my life is over!

2. Singing is great. I do it ALL the time. Making up my own songs or just singing songs from the radio, primary or our favorite CD's it really doesn't matter.

3. I am a mamma's girl.

4. Princesses Rule. What do I want to be when I grow up? sleeping beauty.

5. My thumb is my friend. It's always there when I need it and it always knows how to make me feel better.

6. I don't really like being a big kid. I try to do as little for myself as possible so that I can stay a baby.

7. "Ballet Music" is really great. I could listen to the ballet "Sleeping Beauty" twenty times a day.

8.I love to play dress-up. Everyday it's necessary to see how I look in a particular outfit. I have about a hundred dress-ups and they are all used on a regular basis.

Pinewood Derby

This was actually a month ago, but I am behind in my posts, so I am going to just keep going!! Trey had a lot of fun making the car. He went to one of our friends house and cut out the car and he could hardly wait until the race day. He did really well on the first heat, he took first place by a big time difference and then everything went downhill after that. His wheel came off on his next heat, and on the third heat two wheels came off!! Yeah, we wont be using that particular brand of car again. He was a little disappointed, but he still had a great time. This year they gave the last place car a huge prize, and I told Trey that we should have tried to get last place instead, but he wasn't so sure. Trey has really enjoyed scouts this year, it's nice to have so many boys his age in our ward.
