Pregnancy Questions

So, two nights ago I was sitting watching TV and I noticed that I was getting hives on my leg. A few minutes later my arms started breaking out. Within fifteen minutes my legs and arms were swollen, red and hot with huge welts all over. I took some Benedryl and it seemed to calm down a little but they didn't go away totally. The next morning I had a few on my arms and legs and during the day they would randomly pop out again. Last night the same thing happened. During the night my feet and ankles got huge and I had them on the bottom of my feet. I was DYING!! I was talking to my friend Diana and she said that she had them this week and someone told her that it was 'winter itch'. When she looked at mine she said that hers didn't get welts like that. Is it just the pregnancy that is making it worse, or is my body freaking out at something else? I am putting this out since almost all of you have been pregnant and wanted to know if any of you have had this and what you did. I'm sick of itching all the time!! Benedryl isn't really helping too much, my body really doesn't like being pregnant!!
HELP!!

Yipes. Sounds like a normal pregnancy reaction. They like to say that everything in pregnancy is normal though. I think it's called something though. My nursing school is years behind me, but it sounds vaguely familiar (pups or pap or something like that?) where you react to the pregnancy. I remember somebody mentioning they got that. Kristi Havenar? You might want to try her...SORRY!!!

With a few of my pregnancies, my body reacted to things that had not given me any problems before, like laundry detergent. The itching and swelling was so bad that I ended up at the ER cuz nothing helped. I switched to free and clear stuff and stopped using Downy during that pregnancy and it went away. Who knows though, everyone is so different. I'm so sorry though, that stinks!

Hey, I found you again! I lost your blog address when I updated, but found you through Jenn S. Anyway, this whole welts thing, my next door neighbor gets them! They are huge and look so sore! Her Dr. told her that allergies are heightened in pregnancy and it is part of allergies. She is the only other person I have ever heard of having that, and now you! I do feel bad for you though! Hang in there! Congratulations on the baby!

Yikes...what the heck is "winter itch"? Sounds uncomfortable!!! Call your Dr.'s office and just chat with a nurse over the phone. How misserable...sorry!

Triage Nurse is your friend. Call her. I have no idea, but I am so sorry. That sounds miserable. Oh, the things we do to bring babies into this world!

I had itchy hives just on my legs and feet when I was pregnant with Brody. They told me to use hydrocortizone cream, which did help the itching. It went away after a week or ten days.

I remember Mom saying that all of the ailments in her life are because of the pregnancies she had of me and Ryan. I hope your not getting stuff she had/has! Love Ya sis! Love Chung
